Thank you to everyone that helped pull this event off!  Fun was had by all!

Spread the news! Transfiguration Catholic Church is once again having a Christ Child Celebration reminiscent of the “Christkindlmarkt” of Germany and the open air markets of another time.  A tent “village” at the church will appear overnight, sparkling with Christmas lights, beckoning to young and old alike to participate in the magic of Christmas.   We will have games for children, entertainment, plays, LIVE music, a selection of international foods, gift items and crafts, and of course, pictures with Santa!

This will be a festival for family, friends, and community.  Our Christ Child Celebration will begin the Christmas season by reminding us of the true spirit of Christmas.  The famous Christkindlmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, always began with a prologue read by a child dressed up as a Christmas angel, which embodied the magic and wonder of the season. The prologue ends with these words:

THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND WE INVITE EVERYONE IN THE COMMUNITY TO ATTEND.

The last month of the year has come and thus the day

When wishes are fulfilled and presents given.

The market’s lights shine brightly

With baubles, glitter and Christmas promises.

But don’t forget, ye men and womenfolk, one thing:

Those who have everything, don’t need your presents.

It is the children of this world and the poorer folk

Who will tell you what it means to give a present.
